Why did I get sent to this page?

Sorry...this is just a quick plug for the Best Viewed With Any Browser campaign. They are working to make a Web accessible to all.

See, browser manufacturers can include tags that make pages look cool, but only in their browsers. Even such common tags as <table> (makes a table) and <frameset> (divides the page into frames) were at one time Netscape-only extensions.

And the story is worse for those with visual impairments. Browsers are available that "speak" each word on the page. What happens though on a site that only has images with no <alt>ernative text? (as many major companies do). The site is useless for such people.

I tried to make my pages accessible to all browsers on all platforms. Where the information justified a more advanced layout, I included alternative text and sites with the same or similar information.

Anyhow, for those of you looking from browsers, links to the definitive browsers from Netscape and Microsoft are below. These browsers support most all new extensions (including ones of their own), and the sites also have links to earlier versions for older computers.

There are also other browsers out there such as Opera and Lynx. These pages should be usable and viewable on them as well.

Thanks for your time, and if you find any mistakes or have any questions, feel free to email me at webmaster@sireneinternet.net.
